2025 Teachers On The Estuary (TOTE) workshop
A Tale of Two Rivers: Observation & Monitoring
Aug 18: Virtual; 10A-12P
Aug 19: CT River Museum (Essex, CT)
Aug 20: Fort Trumbull State Park (New London, CT)
The Connecticut National Estuarine Research Reserve is offering its 2025 Teachers On The Estuary (TOTE) workshop August 18-20.
This three-day workshop will allow you to explore the Thames and Connecticut Rivers and discover new ways to inspire yourself, your curriculum, and your students. Local artist, author, and photographer, Patrick Lynch, will share the tales of both river systems, including their history and ecological differences.
Over the next two days, we’ll hop onboard vessels with local experts from the CT River Museum (Essex, CT) and Thames River Heritage Park (New London, CT) to dive into the details. We’ll collect data on water quality, fish and invertebrates, and observational data to compare the two systems. You’ll walk away with new knowledge, new skills, and new ideas for learning and monitoring in your classroom and schoolyard.
This workshop will be geared toward middle school level science teachers but all are welcome. It is free and travel stipends are available. Participants are expected to attend all three days of the workshop.
Space is limited so be sure to reserve your spot soon if you are interested.
