Join us for educational walks and activities at Bluff Point State Park.

Birds of Bluff Point State Park – FULL – sign up for the waiting list
Time: 9-10AM or 10-11AM (registration required, limited to 12)
Join Connecticut Audubon Society’s Joe Attwater and search for summer residents and breeding species in one of the best birding spots in Connecticut! This easy out and back will be about a mile long on level terrain and will traverse through beautiful coastal forest. Bring a pair of binoculars and water, and get ready to search for warblers, thrushes, vireos and more!

Protecting & Restoring Bluff Point State Park
Time: 9-10AM or 10-11AM (registration required, limited to 20)
Join Education Coordinator, Larissa Graham, as she shares the work that the Connecticut Reserve is doing to protect and restore Bluff Point State Park. We will learn about plans to reduce flooding, control invasive plants, and better mark hiking trails. This walk will be along the main trail and approx. 1.75 miles long.

History and Geology of Bluff Point State Park
Time: 11AM-1PM (registration required, limited to 20)
Join marine geologist, Ralph Lewis, and UConn professor, Syma Ebbin, to explore the geological features and human history of Bluff Point. This 4-mile walk will cover moderate terrain as you examine wave energy and beach types along the coast and learn more about how humans have used or planned to use the land and resources of what we now call Bluff Point. Some portions of the coast can be steep, wet and possibly slippery. Good shoes, a water bottle and dressing for the weather recommended.

Family Fun: Nature Exploration
Time: 9AM-1PM, stop in anytime (registration suggested; kid-approved)
Join the CT DEEP State Parks Education and Outreach Division and the No Child Left Inside® Program for some family fun exploring Bluff Point State Park.  Join us for nature journaling – we will be using all of our senses to investigate, explore, seek and find plants, animals and so many other living and non-living treasures.  All you need to bring is your family’s love of the outdoors and we’ll provide the rest! Visitors are welcome to drop in any time during this session but registration is still encouraged. All children must be accompanied by an adult during this family-friendly activity.
