Bluff Point State Park

ATTENTION TRAIL CLOSURE - NOV 2-6, 2026. Intermittent closures of a portion of the Bluff Point Loop Trail are anticipated for the week of November 2-6. The closure will allow geotechnical borings work, collecting sub-surface sediment samples, to inform the design of safe and effective structures that will be implemented as part of a future restoration project.

The Connecticut National Estuarine Research Reserve is working in cooperation with CT DEEP on the following projects at Bluff Point:

  • Restoring critical salt marsh habitat, improving tidal flow, and modifying trails and public access to increase resiliency and accessibility (2025-current). Read more HERE.
  • Installing photo stations to monitor flooding. See the photos here: Parking Lot and Coastal Trail.
  • Identifying areas in need of restoration (2023-2025). Read more HERE.
